Mike Maloney and I turned a busted day of kayaking into a weekend of photography in the Canaan Valley. He hadn’t fully explored the area, so I showed him a few of my favorite spots. We also explored a couple of new places along the Canaan Loop Road.
Cloudy skies meant our best bet was to head to the streams that drop their way into the Blackwater, with the best of them being Shays Run. The various drops of Elakala Falls are always good for amazing photographs. I found a new favorite location perched atop Elakala #3.
After a night camping out along the Canaan Loop Road, we were greeted by a foggy morning. After spending a while shooting around our campsite, we headed down to Red Run to do some exploring. The best shots came about 50yds from the car, but we did explore a new trail that may hold some interesting options as fall rolls around.
